Juan Pablo Carvallo

Executive Director of the National Research and Education Network of Ecuador (CEDIA)

Juan Pablo Carvallo holds a master’s degree in "Advanced Broadcasting Networks, Systems, and Services" and a PhD in Software Engineering. His research areas include software quality, software process improvement, hybrid systems architecture, and requirements engineering, among others. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the National Research and Education Network of Ecuador (CEDIA), a full professor at the University of Azuay in Cuenca, Ecuador, and an independent consultant in Information Technology-related topics.

He has held roles as General Chair, Co-Chair of the Scientific Committee, and member of the Program Committee in various national and international conferences. Additionally, he has authored and reviewed scientific papers for prestigious conferences and journals, including IEEE RE, IEEE Software, Software Process Improvement and Practice, and the Journal of Computer Science and Technology.

Throughout his extensive career, he has published over 80 international scientific papers, including 47 indexed in SCOPUS.

In line with the objectives of the EU-LAC Digital Alliance and the the BELLA II project led by RedCLARA, TICAL provides a forum for strategic dialogue and exchange of experiences among the NRENs members of RedCLARA on strengthening regional science, technology, and innovation; promotes the identification of common challenges and opportunities of digital transformation for the economic and social development of Latin America and the Caribbean, and seeks to identify the cornerstones for building a common development agenda based on digital.
